DescriptionThird edition of Baudelaire´s translation; first illustrated. It includes Baudelaire´s essays ´Edgar Poe, sa vie et ses oeuvres´ and ´Notes nouvelles sur Edgar Poe´ and 14 (Histoires extraordinaires) + 30 stories by Poe (Nouvelles histoires extraordinaires) accompanied by twenty-six etchings and photoengravings (héliogravures) including a portrait of Poe and an allegorical frontispiece (´The Imagination of Poe´).
The prints belongs to Hermann Vogel [Wögel], who signs seventeen –thirteen engraved by himself and four by Eugène-Michel-Joseph Abot–; François-Nicolas Chifflart, who designs and etches the portrait of Poe and the frontispiece; to Jules-Descartes Férat, author of two; and Daniel Urrabieta Vierge, Herpin, Henri Meyer, Jean-Paul Laurens and Fortuné-Louis Méaulle, who each design one.
