DescriptionThis edition includes eleven tales translated by Enrique Leopoldo de Verneuil, as well as a prologue on the life and work of Edgar Allan Poe ("Edgardo Poe. Su vida y sus obras") by Charles Baudelaire.
All the tales are illustrated with a total of thirty vignettes and full-page illustrations by Fernando Xumetra Ragull, along with an allegorical portrait of Poe.
The illustrations first appeared in 1887 in the work Historias extraordinarias (Barcelona: Daniel Cortezo y Cª., 1887).
