DescriptionIt includes fourteen tales, an essay and the poem "The Raven"; in addition to a preface "Sa vie et ses oeuvres" by the translator Charles Baudelaire. Under the title "La genese d'un poéme" there is included a preamble by the translator, "The Raven" and the text of the essay itself, "The Philosophy of Composition".
It is illustrated by sixteen woodcuts by Bernard Naudin, and a portrait of Edgar Allan Poe as a frontispiece; they are engraved by Perrichon, Germain and Aubert. The entire edition is decorated with colophons that are repeated alternately in the texts (twenty-two compositions in total).
