DescriptionIt includes thirty tales and an essay in translation by Charles Baudelaire, the preface "Notes nouvelles sur Edgar A. Poe" by the same author and the letter he sent to Maria Clemm.
It contains a wood engraving portrait of Poe by Jules Léon Perrichon from a painting by Samuel Stillman Osgood and thirty-one illustrations (one heading for each tale) designed and wood engraving by Fernand Siméon; it also includes an extra vignette for "Maelzel's Chess Player", a heading for "Histoires Grotesques et Sérieuses," and numerous colophons, most of a decorative nature. In total, fifty-eight woodcuts. Title page in two inks and illustrated; Duplicate in paperback.
