DescriptionIt includes twenty tales translated by Charles Baudelaire and illustrated with forty drypoints and etchings by Alméry Lobel-Riche, with two illustrations for each story (one as a heading at the beginning of each narrative, accompanying the initial letter, and another full-page illustration). In addition, the frontispiece includes a portrait of Edgar Allan Poe alongside a smaller portrait of the illustrator.
This is copy number 99 of a numbered and limited edition of 197 copies. The edition was completed on October 15, 1927, at the printing house of A.-G. L'Hoir, a Parisian master printer. The engravings were printed by Victor Viennois.
The edition is completed with a second volume containing several versions and preparatory models of the final engravings.
This is an unbound copy.
