DescriptionReprint of a previous one from 1914. It includes the preface "Edgar Allan Poe" (1905) and the essay "Wie sah E. A. Poe aus? [What did E. A. Poe look like?]” by Hanns Heinz Ewers, and two poems and eighteen tales translated by Gisela Etzel.
It includes twenty-nine full-page black-and-white illustrations and a vignette on the title page by Alfred Kubin and it also includes three portraits of Poe: 1) a reproduction of the one drawn in 1877 by Édouard Manet; 2) a reproduction of the etching engraved by Harry George Webb; and 3) a reproduction of the 1894 engraving by Félix Edouard Vallotton. It also contains a view of Poe's cottage at Fordham and a facsimile of Poe's letter to William J. Pabodie (December 4, 1848).
Hardcover bound in cream paper with a two-ink cover and illustration of "Metzengerstein" different from those designed by Kubin for the interior.
