DescriptionSelection of ten Poe's tales appeared both in weekly installments and in a single volume (this issue). It is part of the collection "Obras literarias de autores célebres CVII" and has a foreword by Alfonso Hernández Catá.
The edition is not dated, but it must have been published circa 1900 since the tales in weekly installments (Narraciones extraordinarias. Madrid: Saturnino Calleja Fernández, [1908]) were published circa 1908, according to Burton R. Pollin.
Illustrated with seventeen black and white illustrations by Manuel Picolo López, Elías Corona Gómez-Gamero, José Cuevas, Isidro Gil y Gabilondo y Evaristo Barrio, regular collaborators of Calleja. The illustration from the frontispiece of “Berenice” is repeated on a full page in the tale.
Bound in hard cover; with color illustrated cover with a portrait of Edgar Allan Poe, signed with the initials "EC" could correspond to Elías Corona Gómez-Gamero.
